ALTERNATE aTTaX wins the first King of the Castle

The competitive circuit Clash of Clans (CoC) has slowed down without stopping, due to covid-19. The world championships will take place this year and ALTERNATE aTTaX is a serious contender.

With 1 million dollars of cash-prize, the Worlds represent the top of the season but the situation is still unclear for the 2020 edition. With or without public, online or offline... Many questions remain. It's difficult to prepare in good conditions for the players and to be hyper for the spectators without knowing what to expect. This is why the organisers have launched the King of the Castle preparation tournament.

The principle of the King of the Castle tournament

In King of the Castle, only teams that qualify for the World Championships compete in successive duels in Bo1. In a King of the Hill format, the winner of each duel stays on and faces a new entrant in the next edition.

This preparatory tournament is a real treat for fans of esport. They have been deprived of several events during this disrupted year and are looking forward to more. In France, for example, the majority of LANs did not take place. But it is also beneficial to professional teams. They get excellent training against their future opponents, the best in the world. The two captains of the inaugural duel, Bumm (ALTERNATE aTTaX) and Cauldron (Vatang), emphasised in an interview the importance of this tournament, even though it is not a cash prize. It is an opportunity for teams to learn about the opponents' style of play while working on their own strengths and weaknesses.

A first edition won by ALTERNATE aTTaX

In this clash between the two top qualifiers for the world championships, it was ALTERNATE aTTaX that got the better of Vatang, which nevertheless defended itself well. After all the attack and defence phases, both teams had the same number of stars (11). It was therefore necessary to look at the details of the total destruction % to decide between the competitors: 93.40% against 88.80%. After this victory of the German structure, it is the German team that will return to defend its castle in the next duel.

The organisers have not yet set a date for the next clash. It will be necessary to wait for the name of the next qualifier to the World Championships which will be known at the end of August, at the end of the 3rd qualifier.
