New mobile games and global announcements

Another busy week of news and twists! To do things in order, I suggest you start with the mobile game releases of the week and the major announcements from studios on Android and iOS.

Exit from Tower of Fantasy

Let's start this recap with the release of Tower of Fantasy, the science fiction MMORPG from Tencent. Expected by mobile and PC gamers as the rival of Genshin Impact Tower of Fantasy is clearly inspired by the latter, even if the gameplay is not quite the same. Where Genshin Impact is rather weak in multiplayer possibilities, Tower of Fantasy emphasizes its multiplayer content with a large number of activities and social options, on par with a real MMO. To explore the open world of the planet Aida, whose graphics will remind you of Genshin or Honkai Impact, you will also have the right to use mounts on water and on land in addition to your starting jetpack to access all types of environments.

Between puzzles, dungeons and camp fights, you'll get to experience the power of some pretty satisfying attack combos by switching between your three weapons. Via an advanced customization system, you can create your own avatar before launching into the story and start grind resources to summon as many weapons and skins character as possible. Number 1 on the AppStore since its launch, Tower of Fantasy invites you to play as an Explorer with an inventory larger than a snail's, and to switch between three weapons to slice your enemies into cubes, French fries or julienne. It's up to you to find your style of play and try the adventure Tower of Fantasy...

Honor of Kings Global Regional Closed Beta

We continue on this path with another highly anticipated game in the West. I'm talking aboutHonor of Kings Global, which is competing with its own European adaptation called Vainglory. Since last week, the incredibly successful Chinese MOBA is offering a closed beta in some regions, including Brazil, Mexico, Turkey and Egypt. We note that this phase of test is reserved for Android players and that no information has been transmitted about the iOS version. We still don't know the official release date of TiMi Studios' game, so we'll have to wait a little longer before we can play as one of the 60 heroes of Honor of Kings in the Summoner's Rift... or rather in the game's arena.

Progressive launch of Avatar: Generations by Square Enix

Water, earth, fire, air... A long time ago, these four peoples lived in harmony. Today, they meet on mobile in a new RPG developed by Square Enix. Entitled Avatar: Generations, this role-playing and tactical combat game has just been launched in several countries including Canada, South Africa, Denmark and Sweden. Between the fights, narrative sequences will allow to deepen the story with 2D illustrations and many characters to discover alongside the most famous ones such as Aang, Sokka, Katara, Toph or the prince Zuko. While waiting to test the game in Europe, you can always replay the three seasons of the Nickelodeon series.

The Bird that Drinks Tears, the new game from Krafton based on a Korean web novel

The company Krafton, which manages PUBG Mobile and New State, is offering the fantasy universe of The Bird That Drinks Tears. This Korean web novel has had several million readers and will be illustrated by Ian McCaig, a concept artist particularly renowned for his work on the atmosphere of Star Wars, Avengers or Harry Potter. With so much talent, we can only hope that the mythology of this novel will be given a magnificent adaptation that will highlight the four unique races of this universe. We'll tell you more about the title as we make announcements about it.

State Labs PUBG: New State

Still on the Krafton side, we discover this week the PUBG State Labs. This new New State beta server is designed to allow certain players to participate in the test phases of the game by invitation from the developers and discover the seasonal content before everyone else. Among the upcoming content, the maps Miramar, Vikendi, Sanhok, Taego and a TDM map should be part of the next releases.

Beta test in NA of Metal Revolution

If you're feeling in a fighting mood this summer, you might want to follow the release of Metal Revolution in new regions. So far, the title has just been released in North America after a release in Asia. Maybe Europe will be the next to get its hands on this fighting game with a brutal urban atmosphere and 2.5D arenas designed by Yoozoo Games.

In side view, the confrontations against the AI or players follow one another in a style close to Street Fighter for this beta of Metal Revolution which should continue to expand internationally.

Unhappy Raccoon pre-registration opens

The famous studio XD Entertainment has been making announcements since the TapTap Presents 2022. This time it's the roguelike Unhappy Raccoon that is at the center of attention with the opening of its pre-registrations. Colorful and dynamic, the title is a mix between cartoon universe, furries and procedural action. You'll have to wait a little longer before being able to test Unhappy Raccoon and discover the plans of its raccoon god, but don't miss the pre-registration bonuses before the game's release.

Pre-registration for Dark Arena: Wonder Heroes

Let's continue with the pre-registration for Dark Arena: Wonder Heroes. Based on the good old principle of villain heroes, Dark Arena revisits the tales of Alice in Wonderland, Rapunzel or the Little Mermaid with a big part of darkness. This gacha RPG multiplies cultural references and game modes, so if you're interested in the title don' t forget to pre-register to get the 500 free summons.

One Punch Man - The Strongest regional pre-registration

The new strategic RPG at turn-based from the One Punch Man license opens its US and European pre-registrations this week. Called One Punch Man - The Strongest, the title will launch in closed beta on August 18. You will find the original Japanese voices of the anime and the emblematic scenes of the original story. Even if I can't see the differences between this game and Road to Hero, fans will surely be interested in a new officially licensed game.

Apex Legends Mobile and its Crypto legend

We have all made a false move before regretting it and looking for the z control as soon as possible. And well Apex Legends Mobile released a legend that wasn't supposed to be released in their store for a long time. It took them some time to backtrack and this gave some players the opportunity to discover the new Crypto legend via a bug, even if they could not test the character.

Auto Chess MOBA in early access in the Philipines

If you've been looking for yet another MOBA modeled after League of Legends, Auto Chess MOBA makes its early access debut in the Philippines. A choice of heroes, an asymmetric map, gold, xp to grind and a river in the middle... no it's not Wild Rift. If you manage to test on the game on Google Play with your best VPN and survive the latency, maybe you can give this new League of Legends clone a shot?

Call of Duty Next : and invitations

In the middle of all its summer conferences, Activision is planning to showcase one of its major licenses a little after the summer break. On September 15, the Call of Duty Next event will take place, which will present the future of CoD and more particularly Call of Duty Warzone Mobile with unpublished images. But before the big day, some streamers and youtubers will already be able to access the game thanks to special invitations that Activision has already started sending to the lucky ones. In parallel, the Call of Duty license is also in the news because of the Activision Blizzard takeover, which continues to raise Sony's fears about Microsoft's potential monopoly.

6th anniversary of King of Avalon (Discord) + 4 years of Darkness Rises

Since summer is a festive time, we couldn't publish this recap without mentioning some anniversaries. This week it's King of Avalon which is celebrating its sixth birthday while Darkness Rises is reaching four years of existence, and both games are obviously offering temporary content related to these celebrations, so enjoy it.

Fortnite x RL Sideswipe Collaboration

What would be a list of updates without going through the partnership that marked the week. As a result of the collaboration between Fortnite and Rocket League Sideswipe, new content should appear in the two successful titles. These two games are obviously owned by Epic Games which frankly facilitates negotiations. Are you in? Yes, yes I'm in, come on. If the RocketLeagueLive code is still working, you'll be able to pick up the exclusiverewards from the event, otherwise you'll just have to complete some quests on Fortnite.

LifeAfter : Sea of Zombie Extension

With over 10 million downloads to its credit, LifeAfter is almost obliged to release regular content to keep all its players happy. This time it's the major expansion Sea of Zombie that makes its debut in the open-world survival game from NetEase. So set sail, sailors!

Esport and Industry

Let's go through the looking glass to see what's been going on in the mobile gaming industry and its sports sector over the last seven days.

IGG Financial Report

Among the news of the week in the mobile gaming industry, we discover the release of the annual financial report of IGG, the studio behind the famous Lors Mobile and Castle Clash. With more than 760 million dollars in revenues, the Chinese studio has seen an 11% increase in results since last year. Its biggest success is of course Lords Mobile, which has been generating regular revenues for 6 years already, but we shouldn't forget Time Princess, which has received awards in South Korea and has been accumulating users since its release in 2020. In any case, IGG is also looking to the future and expects big results for the release of its space survival action game Yeager.

Unity signs a new deal with a military scope

The Unity game engine is embroiled in a new controversy, this time for its multi-million deal with CACI International, a company that works closely with the military. Unity is one of the most used game engines by small and medium-sized studios, but it has also been used to produce big titles like Among Us or Call of Duty Mobile and has been getting bad press in the last few years, especially after having its employees work on features dedicated to the army without informing them... We hope that Unity will be able to straighten out the situation and communicate properly with its employees and users for future deals involving the company...

Stats for Netflix games + Into the Breach mobile

On the statistics side, we learn a bit more about Netflix games. In addition to recent subscriber losses, the American video-on-demand service has failed to fully realize its launch into the mobile gaming space. Of the 220 million current subscribers, less than1% of them would have tested the service. It has to be said that the communication around this new game catalog is not really sufficient and that only the video game media are harping on the Netflix releases without managing to reach a more casual audience.

3M prize pool for PUBG Mobile World Invitational

Finally, we conclude this recap with the PUBG Mobile World Invitational which accumulates 3 million dollars of cashprize. 18 teams from around the world will compete in this tournament organized by Tencent. The total amount will be divided into a share of 1 million for the participants according to their ranking and 2 million for the winning team of the PUBG Mobile World Invitational 2022.

Thank you all for reading this far, and see you next week for more mobile gaming news!
