Krafton develops Palworld mobile via PUBG Studios

In our recap #174, we told you about the rumour that Krafton was involved in the Palworld project for Android and iOS. Well, it's now official: Krafton is developing Palworld mobile, the company behind PUBG, among others. So it looks like Nintendo's lawsuit against PocketPair, the creators of Palworld, hasn't upset the plans for this port!

Krafton is developing Palworld mobile with agreement from PocketPair

PocketPair and Krafton have signed an agreement enabling the South Korean company to bring the survival game "with Pokémon" to Android and iOS. In a press release on its official website, the company stated that it would be responsible for "faithfully reinterpreting and implementing the main entertaining elements of the original for the mobile environment".

However, it is not yet known whether the port will be a faithful version of the Palworld on PC and console, or a new opus of the licence on mobile with a different proposition. Obviously, no release date has been announced in this press release.

Krafton is developing Palworld Mobile via its subsidiary PUBG Studios, which, as its name suggests, is the development studio responsible for the famous Battle Royale. This announcement comes at almost the same time as the release of Palworld on PS5 (outside Japan, for reasons we'll explain later), after a period of exclusivity on Xbox consoles.

Palworld mobile in development at Krafton, PocketPair pursued by Nintendo

It's hard to talk about Krafton's development of Palworld Mobile without mentioning the lawsuits brought by Nintendo and the Pokémon Company against PocketPair.

While one might have thought that the Japanese multinational would have sued the creators of Palworld for the resemblance between Pals and Pokémon, the lawsuits, which date back to 18 September, actually concern patent infringement, as can be seen on social networks and Nintendo's website.

We don't know the nature of the patents filed by Nintendo, but experts are talking about the Pokéball concept and the way Pokémon are caught.

So it would appear that PocketPair and Krafton, developers of Palworld Mobile , are not particularly worried about what happens next. In any case, we at Mobi.gg will keep you posted!
