Oddmar review: visit the Vikings with this indie platformer

More info

Get on board the next drakkar and discover Oddmar, an excellent platformer released for Android and iOS. Oddmar is the name of the Viking you play as in the game who, thanks to the power of a mushroom, has the ability to leap and jump against walls. If you're nostalgic for the first Rayman games or looking for a platform game designed for mobile phones, you've come to the right place! Produced by independent studio Mobge, Oddmar is a real success that takes up and masters the codes of the genre. Let's get started with our review of Oddmar, a must-have for your smartphone.

Oddmar review: visit the Vikings with this indie platformer

Positive points

  • Excellent grip
  • Clever, well-thought-out level design
  • Highly successful boss phases
  • An immersive atmosphere supported by superb DA

Negative points

  • A fairly short lifespan
  • Well mastered but rather classic mechanics

My final opinion of Oddmar

Admittedly, Oddmar doesn't revolutionise the platformer genre. The mechanics you unlock as you progress aren't always original. However, my opinion of Oddmar remains very positive, as the game succeeds in everything it sets out to do: from its imaginative and cleverly thought-out level design to its excellent handling and challenging boss stages, this indie platformer offers an excellent experience.

Oddmar is truly designed for mobile, with touch controls that deliver a great game feel. In fact, the game was first released on Android and iOS, before joining the Switch catalogue. The game may be criticised for being a little short-lived, with just 24 levels. Despite this, Oddmar offers good replayability thanks to the stars you can collect.

To sum up this review of Oddmar, I'd really recommend you check out this platformer, if only to enjoy its beautiful AD and its cute, poetic atmosphere. You can try it out on Android and iOS: the first level is free and to unlock the following levels, you'll need to spend less than $4. Trust me, you'll get your money's worth!

Rayman in Viking land, it's Oddmar on mobile!
