Monument Valley review, a little gem of a mobile game

Positive points

  • Sublime artistic direction
  • The diversity of buildings to explore
  • Excellent grip
  • Highly effective gameplay
  • An immersive, poetic and mysterious atmosphere

Negative points

  • A lack of challenge that could upset even the most try-harders
  • Rather short gameplay

My final opinion of Monument Valley

As well as the gameplay, which is easy to pick up and beyond reproach, I found Monument Valley to be a poetic, mysterious (and even melancholy) atmospheric game, with a strong aesthetic appeal. My only regret is that the game is rather short, lasting around three hours. It may not appeal to try-harders looking for an arduous puzzle game, but I'd still recommend it to anyone looking for an immersive and original experience. Designed with the smartphone in mind, Monument Valley is sure to change the way you look at mobile gaming . And there's a good reason why we've ranked it among the 20 best mobile games!

A real favourite, a little gem of an independent video game.
