Gris mobile review: an experience that won't leave you indifferent

In this Gris mobile review, we invite you to dive into a contemplative experience driven by a simply sublime art direction and a deeply moving soundtrack. But beyond its visual appeal, which will leave you breathless, Gris actively involves you in a young woman's quest to find her lost voice, through platforming, puzzles and exploration. Let yourself be carried away by this little gem developed by Nomada Studio and published by Devolver.

Gris mobile review: an experience that won't leave you indifferent

Positive points

  • Sublime DA and soundtrack
  • A story that everyone can interpret in their own way
  • Some very moving passages
  • Well thought-out and intuitive level design

Negative points

  • Far too short a lifespan (5 hours maximum)
  • Some passages a little too contemplative for some
  • The absence of difficulty

My final opinion on Gris, a sublime and mysterious fable

It's true, Gris may not satisfy the most hardened of try-harders. Difficulty is almost absent from this title, although some puzzles will require a few moments of thought. For all that, and although its short lifespan adds a note of frustration, my opinion of Gris remains very positive. Despite some contemplative phases, Nomeda's game is far from being a simple artistic experience.

The different environments you discover will unlock abilities that you'll need to use wisely to collect the stars that will open the doors to the next level. And the least we can say is that the level design of Gris is well thought-out. Despite the absence of signs throughout the game, the environment is intuitive and allows you to find your way around on your own. You'll come across platform phases and puzzles to solve, which will keep you on your toes throughout the adventure.

But the biggest strength of Gris, in my opinion, is its narrative and its story, which everyone can interpret according to their own experience. Whether you're grieving, recovering from depression or simply coming out of a bad patch, we'll all find an interpretation for our character's quest, and the world will regain its colours as he or she progresses. To sum up my review of Gris on mobile, I'd urge you to give this beautiful and deeply moving experience a try, and Gris is one of our top offline mobile games.

I'm not crying, I've got a speck of dust in my eye...
