Wild Rift Origin Series: teams prepare

Wild Rift Origin Series: teams prepare

LoL: Wild Rift is surely aiming to become a top mobile game esport . The mobile version of League of Legends is not there yet, but it is counting on the Origin Series to make a big impact. With $300,000 in cash prizes, this open competition should attract a lot of people. As a reminder, it only concerns teams from the EU (Europe), CIS (Russia) and MENA (Middle East and North Africa) regions. Although anyone can create a team and register, some large structures esport have sniffed out the good news. They have set up their professional teams and should normally dominate the competition, which launches its first qualifying tournament tomorrow.

For the moment, Asian structures have shown particular interest in the development of the LoL: Wild Rift scene. Indeed, several dozen professional teams are already listed: Detonation Gaming, Flash Wolves, Team Flash, Team Secret... Europe is still a bit behind, but well-known structures are gradually getting involved.

The League of Legends crew is helping out with the promotion.

Notable European teams ahead of the Origin Series

At the moment, there are 7 notable professional teams on the European LoL: Wild Rift scene. All of them are expected to participate in the Origin Series and it is reasonable to assume that the future winner is among them.

  • Natus Vincere: a team composed of 4 Russians and one Belarusian,
  • Team Queso : a team composed exclusively of Spanish players,
  • Tribe Gaming,
  • Istanbul Wildcats: a team composed entirely of Turkish players,
  • Team Singularity,
  • Nova Esports,
  • Futbolist.

What about the French?

On the French side, we're still waiting for big companies like Team Vitality, MCES or even LDLC OL to take the plunge. Since they are very involved in the League of Legends scene (LEC and LFL), they could be tempted by the mobile version. In the meantime, we can still support Clue. The Frenchman plays for Tribe Gaming in the support position and finished second in the Battle For The Rift tournament ($5,000 cash-prize). The scene is still in its infancy and we have little data on even the most talented players. But we have also tracked down some other French players who could be a surprise.

  • Random (Baron lane), Yeqiu (Mid) and REDemption (Dragon lane): they wear the colours of the Belgian structure Game-Lord which regularly participates in online tournaments. Together they won the MidSeason - EU tournament (500 dollars cash-prize).
  • Skaikru (Mid): who has played in the Baguette collective recently and is looking for a team.

We'll keep you posted, of course, on the rest of the tournaments!
